Pinellas County Head Start is where positive change begins for your child, your family and our entire community. Through comprehensive education and life-skills programs, your pre-school age child will become ready for school, and your family will become better prepared for the everyday challenges of life.

By providing at-risk pre-school children and their families the education, life skills training and medical care they need, Pinellas County Head Start is strengthening our community – one family at a time.

What is Head Start?

Head Start is a federally funded comprehensive child development program. It serves low income children from birth to mandatory school age, their families and expectant mothers throughout the United States and around the world. Funding and authority come from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Administration for Children and Families (ACF).

We Provide:

  • Quality educational activities based on developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Health Services that encompasses medical, dental, nutritionial, and mental wellness.
  • Family services and parent involvement that assists with child and family self-sufficiency.
  • Support services to assist with program participation.

We promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of low-income children and their families through the provision of comprehensive services. Our program addresses all aspects of development and learning including:
